JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Maritime Affairs and Investment as Deputy Chair of the Policy Committee for Control of COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) to immediately socialize the standard protocol for treating COVID-19 patients to a referral hospital at eight main provinces.
"I ask that starting next week, the Ministry of Health immediately disseminates this therapy protocol to all referral hospitals in eight provinces plus Aceh because the increase in cases is alarming," said Luhut Pandjaitan during a virtual coordination meeting on COVID-19 control in eight provinces, Monday, September 21. from Between.
Present at the coordination meeting included DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah and Plt. Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah.
After being socialized, the Ministry of Health was asked to provide implementation assistance including providing training for doctors and health workers, then monitoring its implementation. In addition, the Ministry of Health was also asked for the availability of drugs and therapeutic tools in the guidelines.

Luhut also asked state-owned hospitals in the regions to help referral hospitals in implementing treatment protocols for COVID-19 patients.

On that occasion, the Special Staff of the Minister of Health for Development and Health Financing Alexander Ginting revealed that the treatment protocol for COVID-19 patients contained mild, moderate and severe clinical management.
"The protocol, which was compiled together with five specialist medical professional organizations, namely PDPI, PAPDI, IDAI, PERDATIN, PERKI and based on WHO guidelines, includes treatment standards and drugs that must be given to patients based on the degree of the case," he explained.
Furthermore, Alexander stated that his party is ready to immediately disseminate the protocol to all provinces which are the priority in handling the current government's COVID-19.
He also said that the Ministry of Health will conduct clinical mentoring to various ICU referral hospitals and nursing hospitals periodically, both virtual and direct, to reduce mortality.
"What is no less important is that we will also strengthen a standardized early detection system for COVID-19, ensuring that each referral hospital and nursing hospital has adequate medical supplies and equipment for each phase of CICO (Circulation, Inflamation, Coagulapathy, Oxygenation)," he explained.
Alexander explained the background for the preparation of the Standard Covid-19 Patient Care Protocol, namely because of the high mortality rate of COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
"Our research shows that a convoluted referral system, late arrival at the center, late diagnosis, inadequate treatment and the absence of a ventilator have an effect on ICU mortality," Alexander explained.
