Riddles Of Substitute For Kabareskrim After Idham Aziz's Death
JAKARTA - Last weekend, the National Police rotated a number of names to take up new positions. However, the position of Kabareskrim has not yet been filled. This position was vacant after the abandonment of Idham Aziz, who rose to the position of Chief of Police.
Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Pol Muhammad Iqbal, said that the head of the Criminal Investigation Unit was appointed by the National Police Chief and the National Police's Council of Ranks and High Positions (Wanjakti). A number of considerations are being discussed to determine who is suitable for this position.
He explained, based on temporary considerations, there were two names that could not sit in that position. They are Deputy Chief of Police Komjen Pol Ari Dono and Irwasum Komjen Pol Moechgiyarto. The reason is, their retirement period is getting closer.
"Pak Wakapolri and Pak Irwasum can no longer be Kabareskrim even though they are three stars," said Iqbal in Jakarta, Monday, November 11, 2019.
Iqbal added, apart from the two names, all two-star and three-star generals have the opportunity to become Kabareskrim. "As long as they have a track record, capability and integrity. All high-ranking officers in the Police environment. All two and three stars in the Police have a chance," he said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for National Police Commissioner Poengki Indarti hopes that the Kabareskrim who is chosen later must have experience in the field of investigation. This is because the position is required to be able to resolve major cases that are of public concern.
Moreover, based on data from Kompolnas, there are around 3,000 complaints per year that discuss the detective's poor performance. Therefore, he hopes that the figure of Kabareskrim should be able to suppress the number of reports on the complaint.
"A prominent law enforcement challenge is dealing with crimes related to radical groups and terrorist networks, cyber crimes, transnational crimes including drugs, and conventional crimes," said Poengki.
