JAKARTA - Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) in collaboration with the Army (AD) supports the optimization of hundreds of hectares (ha) of sleeping land in the Agro Forestry program in Purwakarta Regency, West Java.
The first planting was carried out by the President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi with the Army Chief of Staff (KASAD), General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak at PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) Gunung Hejo, Darangdan District, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, Tuesday 17 December.
Rahmad Pribadi said that Pupuk Indonesia together with the TNI AD would plant 56,220 tree seedlings with various types, especially fruits on 200 hectares of land.
"This program starts with a vision with Pupuk Indonesia and the Army Chief of Staff. Indonesia needs national food security while we know that many lands are left unemployed. The social innovation initiated by the Army Chief of Staff really provides benefits," said Rahmad, quoted from Antara.
He further explained that the level of public intelligence cannot be separated from daily nutrition consumption. Therefore, President Prabowo Subianto's administration currently initiated free food programs for students to increase the intelligence of the nation's next generation through nutritional adequacy.
According to him, the Agro Forestry program is also a form of support for Pupuk Indonesia together with the Indonesian Army for the Government's program in increasing nutritional consumption.
"So if you talk about nutrition, of course the main food must be rice, there must be vegetables, there must be protein and so on. In addition, consumption that contains vitamins is also needed. This program is very important because it helps provide fruits that contain many vitamins needed by the Indonesian people," he said.
Rahmad also added that the Agro Forestry program has a multiplier effect for the community and the environment. In managing this program, his party also involves the local community, so that the trees planted provide economic benefits for the people involved in managing.
The program also provides great benefits to the environment. This is Pupuk Indonesia's commitment, where in carrying out every company's operations, always prioritizes and pays attention to the environment.
"The oxygen consumption is one person in a day, equivalent to oxygen produced by seven mango trees. If Pupuk Indonesia has 20,000 employees, hundreds of thousands of trees that we must plant. This plant may not be sufficient, but I am sure that if every element of the nation does the slightest good, God willing, Indonesia can become a strong nation," said Rahmad.
Agro Forestry is a social innovation that is currently a mainstay program in Pupuk Indonesia. Through this program, Pupuk Indonesia can help reforestation and create healthier Indonesia in the future.
In this program, Pupuk Indonesia also provides assistance as many as five tractor units for land processing, as well as providing basic food assistance for people involved in management.
Meanwhile, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli said that the first phase of the Agro Forestry program was carried out on an area of 200 hectares, in the future the target could reach 1,000 hectares.
