The Minister Of Manpower Is Optimistic That The Implementation Of VAT 12 Percent Will Not Disturb The Absorption Of Manpower

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli said he was optimistic that the implementation of the Value Added Tax (VAT) policy to 12 percent would not interfere with employment next year.

Moreover, continued Yassierli, the government has also provided a number of economic stimulus for the community in line with the increase in VAT of 12 percent next year.

As is known, the government has officially raised Value Added Tax (VAT) from 11 to 12 percent next year. This policy is effective from January 1, 2025.

"Optimistic, that's why we need to provide stimulus or incentives," he said when met at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Office, Monday, December 16.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani revealed that the workforce continued to grow positively even though VAT increased from 10 to 11 percent in 2022.

Referring to the data presented, the increase in workers in the 2015 to 2019 period increased by 2.0 percent per year or the equivalent of 2.4 million workers. Meanwhile, the average increase for the formal worker sector is 3.8 percent or 1.9 million workers per year.

Then, when the government implemented an 11 percent VAT rate in April 2022, the number of workers increased by 3.2 percent or the equivalent of 4.2 million workers per year.

Meanwhile, the formal worker sector experienced an increase of 3.6 percent of the stau equivalent to 1.9 million workers per year.

Then, after the implementation of VAT 11 percent of the number of workers in the period 2023 to 2024 on average increased by 3.4 percent or the equivalent of 4.7 million workers per year.

Meanwhile, the formal worker sector increased by 6.4 percent or 3.6 million workers per year.

"We see various data, lessons learned is to describe our economy remains relatively stable and there are even improvement indicators starting from the number of workers increasing, the number of formal workers," he said.
