JAKARTA - The Indonesian government through the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI 4.0) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) collaborates with industry associations from the United States, such as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Intel, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and McKinsey, to improve the competence of industrial human resources.

"We have signed an MoU between PIDI 4.0 and ASTM from the United States regarding the Development of Industrial Human Resources and Industrial Transformation 4.0," said Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 22.

BPSDMI and ASTM cooperation coverage includes industrial training collaboration 4.0 for upskilling, reskilling, and cross-skilling for human resources in Indonesia, namely in the field of design for additive manufacturing, additive manufacturing security, metal additive manufacturing quality guarantees, qualification and additive manufacturing certification, as well as advanced metal fusion bed powder laser processes.

"In addition, cooperation also includes research and industrial development projects 4.0 which can be supported by the Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE), workshops, conferences,LAWs, and various other potential programs," said Masrokhan.

ASTM itself will provide assistance to local organizations through the development of guide documents, special training, preparation of industrial facilities 4.0 in accordance with international standards, preparation of quality management systems, and preparation of qualifying and certification frameworks in industry 4.0.

In addition to signing the MoU with ASTM, BPSDMI representatives also visited the US Commercialization Department and the United States National Standards and Technology Institute (NIST) on Thursday, November 16.

"I want to emphasize that NIST and BPSDMI (PIDI 4.0) have the same goal, namely to encourage industrial innovation and competitiveness by advancing technology as an effort to increase economic resilience," he said.

The meeting discussed the potential for cooperation that can be established by Indonesia and NIST related to industrial transformation or other related sectors.

Masrokhan believes that discussions on digital transformation and advanced manufacturing will inspire a number of parties to identify the potential for collaboration between PIDI 4.0 and NIST.

"Departing from the bilateral discussion, we will build a partnership between BPSDMI (PIDI 4.0) and NIST through the implementation of collaborative programs and activities," he added.

For your information, PIDI 4.0 was launched in early December 2021 with a mission to become a one stop solution for the implementation of industry 4.0 in Indonesia. Currently, PIDI 4.0 has 44 partners from within and outside the country consisting of industry, associations, and education units.
