JAKARTA - Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is currently a source of value creation and is a responsibility for corporations to be implemented to support their performance as well as initiatives in maintaining sustainability.

PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) as a state-owned company as well as a leading digital telecommunications company, also supports this commitment by increasingly focusing on the management and implementation of ESG through the inauguration of the EXIST program (ESG Existence for Sustainability by Telkom Indonesia), on Thursday 16 November.

The inauguration was carried out by Deputy Governor of DI Yogyakarta KGPAA Paku Alam X and President Director of Telkom Ririek Adriansyah, accompanied by Director of Finance and Risk Management Telkom Heri Supriadi, and Director of Group Business Development Telkom Honesti Basyir, and directors of Telkom's subsidiary. This moment is part of a series of Telkom ESG Day activities held in Yogyakarta.

President Director of Telkom, Ririek Adriansyah hopes that the implementation of ESG can continue to be optimized, not only for companies but also for the benefit of the nation and state.

"The implementation of the ESG involves many stakeholders so that it can continue and sustain. Today's event is also expected to at the same time strengthen relations with the Yogyakarta Regional Government in supporting the success of the Telkom ESG. Hopefully with this ESG, Indonesia can become an environmentally friendly and sustainable country, and become a healthy place of life for all of us. So that we can pass on something good for our children and grandchildren," said Ririek, quoted on Friday, November 17.

On the same occasion, Deputy Governor of DI Yogyakarta KGPAA Paku Alam X had the opportunity to express his appreciation from the Governor of DI Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X for Telkom ESG implementation efforts, especially in Yogyakarta.

"The Yogyakarta Regional Government fully supports Telkom in efforts to develop the region. Let us continue to join hands together, build a more advanced and sustainable society. Thank you for the collaboration that has been established, hopefully this activity will be the starting point for even greater positive steps," said Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X through KGPAA Paku Alam X.

EXIST is Telkom's spirit in realizing an ESG-based future that aims to create sustainable business by creating positive impacts on the environment and society through its innovative services and solutions. Telkom ESG through EXIST comes with 3 main pillars, namely Environmental, Social, and Governance.

In the Environmental pillar, Telkom together with all its subsidiaries and affiliates are committed to supporting the government's target of achieving Net Zero Emission 2060, including through the implementation of waste management by Telkom Property and Telkomsel with the program to Protect Earth. TelkomGroup is also trying to reduce emissions, one of which is by using solar panels on Telkomsel BTS, Telkom Infra, including Mitratel. Not only that, support is also provided through the use of lithium batteries for Mitratel towers and the construction of green data centers by the NetradC.

For the Social pillar, Telkom supports the diversity of talents through recruitment programs for disabled employees, as well as the development of digital talent in line with the priority programs of the Ministry of SOEs 2020-2024. Finally, the Governance pillar is Telkom's effort to build trust from stakeholders, including customers in the security and protection of customer personal data and business ethics.

In addition to the inauguration of EXIST, Telkom ESG Day also presented a series of activities, namely sharing sessions by internal and external experts, including Director of Climate & Sustainability Deloitte Indonesia, Albelata and SDG Mover UNDP Indonesia, Chelsea Islan. This is also Telkom's effort to educate the public and the participants in particular, on the important role of ESG for future generations.

As part of the Telkom ESG Day series, Telkom also planted 1,000 tree seedlings in Girikerto Village, which was also attended by the Head of Girikerto Village, Sudibyo.

Girikerto Village is a water support village in the Mount Merapi area, where the springs are useful for life and must be maintained. Not only that, this village also has an Agro Fruit development program with a land area of 4.03 ha, which aims to increase people's standard of living by planting productive plants and producing a sustainable economic impact (circular economy).

"This seed planting is the first step in Telkom's commitment to implementing the ESG. Hopefully what we are doing can be sustainable and produce benefits for all of us," concluded Ririek.
