JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has proposed an increase in the cost of tickets for the 2024 Hajj flights by 10 percent to around Rp. 35.9 million. The cost of this year's Hajj flight is Rp. 32.7 million.

The Director General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religion, Hilman Latief, explained that there was a trend of increasing the cost of Hajj flight tickets from year to year.

"Currently we propose (increased flight costs) of 10 (percent)," he said at the Working Meeting on the Cost of Organizing Hajj (BPIH) Commission VIII DPR RI, in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 15.

Referring to the proposed increase in costs, the figure obtained for the 2024 Hajj flight ticket is IDR 35.9 million. This amount increased by IDR 4 million when compared to the 2023 Hajj flight fee of IDR 32.7 million.

Despite proposing an increase of 10 percent, Hilman hopes that the final decision can be lower than that figure.

"But we hope to be much lower than that value. According to the agreement, we want to provide services at affordable costs but also with services that remain good," he said.

According to Hilman, this lower ticket fee for Hajj flights could affect the overall cost of the pilgrimage to be more affordable.

"Our hope as the organizer is that we hope to get a more rational proportional price and have an impact on a more affordable BPIH," he explained.
