JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate the Floating Solar Power Plant Project (PLTS) or Floating Solar PV Cirata on Thursday, November 9. The Cirata Floating PLTS project will become the largest floating PLTS in the Southeast Asia region.
With a capacity of 192 megawatt peak (MWp) with an area of 200 hectares, this PLTS is built on the Cirata Reservoir located in three West Java Regencies, namely Purwakarta, Cianjur, and West Bandung. The construction of this project has been running for approximately three years and is a form of global collaboration between PT PLN (Persero) through the subholding of PLN Nusantara Power and the company from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Masdar.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN had planned the construction of PLTS since 2021. He explained that the Cirata Floating PLTS is a National Strategic Project (PSN) that supplies clean energy for the electricity system in the Java-Bali region.
"With a massive capacity, the Cirata Floating PLTS will certainly help people get greener electricity supply. In addition, this project will also contribute to adding a new and renewable energy mix (EBT) as a form of state commitment and concern for the environment and sustainability," Darmawan said in his statement to the media, Thursday, November 9.

Then, the Cirata Floating PLTS tariff is very competitive and will increase independence through the use of energy from local natural resources. In fact, this project will open up opportunities for people who want to participate in green energy development either through PLN's Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) or carbon trading.
"We have a joint mission to save the earth, but on the other hand we also maintain economic growth, create jobs, and prosper the community," concluded Darmawan.
