Tomorrow, Jokowi Will Groundbreaking Airport Development At IKN

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to attend the groundbreaking or laying of the first stone for the construction of the Nusantara State Capital Airport (IKN). The groundbreaking will be carried out tomorrow, Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

This was revealed by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi. Budi admitted that he flew to check the location to be built by the airport, in Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

"Today I confirm and review the construction site of IKN Nusantara Airport. God willing, Mr. President is willing to conduct a groundbreaking tomorrow," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, October 31.

Budi also conducted an air review by helicopter at the location of the IKN Airport which is 23 km from the 0 point of IKN. He explained that the construction of IKN Airport was carried out in accordance with the big concept of IKN, which is natural and environmentally friendly.

Meanwhile, continued Budi, the design concept of the airport combines elements of local wisdom with modern elements, whose designs involve a number of architects.

"IKN Airport was built to support connectivity in IKN, as well as serve the interests of government activities in IKN," he said.

In addition to reviewing the location of the prospective IKN Airport, Budi also visited the location of the prospective IKN supporting port. This port is also to support tourism around IKN, because it will also function as a tourist port.
