JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga revealed the condition of SOEs before a thorough transformation was carried out.

He said, at the beginning of Erick Thohir's leadership of the Ministry of SOEs, many state-owned companies experienced legal problems. In fact, many state-owned companies are playing with each other.

"Even what is even sad first between SOEs is that they sue each other at the court," he said at the BUMN Ngopi event, at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Thursday, October 26.

Seeing this problem, said Arya, Erick Thohir's first step when leading the ministry was to carry out a comprehensive transformation. This includes the Ministry of SOEs.

Arya said, currently the bureaucratic process at the Ministry of SOEs is getting faster, because the number of deputies is getting slimmer.

When Mr. Erick entered the Ministry of SOEs, it was bureaucratic reform. Previously, we had a deputy, it could be up to 9 or how much, it was only 3 deputy deputies. Then 2 deputy ministers," said Arya.

Now, said Arya, the transformation carried out by Erick has resulted in a number of changes. One of them, SOEs are now synergizing with each other to help their respective businesses.

In addition, said Arya, the big change that Erick has made is to streamline the number of SOEs. Of the more than 100 companies, there are only 40 companies left.

"We are restructuring SOEs out of 140, there are only 40 SOEs left, it is also a big change, be it a merger, a holding," he said.
