Chairman Of The Authority Calls The ESG Committee To Guard Environmental, Social And IKN Governance Aspects

JAKARTA - The Committee for Environment, Social and Governance or ESG (environment, social, and governance) will oversee the implementation of environmental, social and governance aspects of the State Capital or IKN Nusantara.

"These are the 9 ESG Warriors who oversee the implementation of environmental management, social and governance aspects, we should be proud of these best figures," said OIKN Head Bambang Susantono quoting Antara.

Bambang said that institutionally, the ESG Committee is not part of the OIKN because this committee is an independent committee.

"They are completely indirect (related to us) because we want, me and Mr. Dhony Rahajoe (Deputy Head of the IKN Authority) to maintain independence. Give us criticism, give us advice, give us a enriching proposal," said Bambang.

IKN Nusantara proclaimed as the first city in Indonesia to have a committee for Environment, Social and Governance or often called ESG (environment, social, and governance).

"We all here want to make a new history. We are determined for something new, which may never exist in Indonesia, has never existed in the world. I started with the hope of all of our friends from the ESG Committee," said Bambang Susantono.

He emphasized that the declaration through the signing of today's integrity pact was a big step towards the realization of the ESG Committee at IKN.

"As if it seems small but a big step when we talk in various international forums and say that IKN Nusantara is the first city to have an ESG committee," he said.

Bambang also hopes that through the support from the ESG Committee, many things can be developed at IKN, especially to realize the glory of tropical forests in the archipelago. In addition, he hopes that in the future, the ESG Committee that oversees the city of Nusantara will become an applicable model in other cities.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the ESG Committee, Rhenald Kasali, explained that the ESG Committee is tasked with conducting research, building networks, and providing recommendations on ESG to OIKN leaders.

"We are ready to make a contribution," said Rhenald Kasali.

The IKN Nusantara ESG Committee is chaired by Rhenald Kasali and consists of Silverius Oscar, Willie Smits, Cyril Noerhadi, Unifah Rosyidi, Ery Seda, Mas Achmad Daniri, David E. Parry, and Tiza Mafira.

IKN Nusantara is the capital city of Indonesia in the future, which is stipulated and regulated by Law Number 3 of 2022. IKN Nusantara changes the orientation of development to Indonesia-centric, and functions to accelerate the transformation of the country's economy.
