The Ministry Of Industry Calls Industry Players In DKI Jakarta, West Java, And Banten Committed To Controlling Disposal Gas Emissions

A total of 1,008 industrial companies and 17 industrial estate companies in the DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten areas have reported their exhaust emission control to the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) on August 31, 2023.

This company report covers various aspects, such as emission types, use of boillary, types of B3 and non-B3 waste, as well as emission control devices used by these companies.

The Director General of Resilience, Region, and International Industrial Access of the Ministry of Industry, Eko S. A. Cahyanto, explained that the Ministry of Industry requires all companies, especially those with significant impacts, including those with their own energy plants, to add emission-reducing instruments. These instruments can vary, ranging from simple ones such as scrubs to recent technologies such as electrostatics.

"We hope that the implementation of this emission reduction instrument can help air conditions and the quality can be even better," said Eko, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 2.

The Ministry of Industry has issued Circular (SE) of the Minister of Industry Number 2 of 2023 concerning Reporting on Waste Gas Emission Control in the Provinces of DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten. This SE aims to guide the reporting of exhaust gas emissions for industrial companies and industrial estates in the region.

Companies in the region involved in energy generation, production processes, and producing exhaust emission or ambient air disturbances must comply with laws and regulations, maintain exhaust emission parameters and air quality according to regulations, and periodically report emission control.

This reporting process is carried out regularly, every week on Thursday, through the National Industrial Information System portal (www.sinas.kemenperin.go.id), in accordance with the guidelines contained in the SE Minister of Industry Attachment.

The Ministry of Industry has also formed an inspection team to oversee exhaust emission control in the DKI Jakarta, Banten, and West Java Provinces. This team carried out various identification steps, planning, data collection, monitoring, and field visits.

Eko explained that a number of business activities of concern had been monitored, and one industrial company suspected of polluting the environment had been directly examined. As a result, exhaust emissions from the company are far below the set limits, although there are administrative problems that need to be addressed.

The results of monitoring by the inspection team on Monday (28/8) in industrial companies of non-metal excavation industry groups and steel industries in the Jabodetabek region show that these companies have complied with all laws and regulations that impact the environment. Measurements also show that their emissions remain below the set threshold.
