PLN EPI Adds New Ship Fleet To Maintain The Energy Supply Chain For Power Plants

PT PLN (Persero) through its subsidiary PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia (EPI) added a new fleet of ships, MV Latifah Baruna to secure the supply chain of primary energy for power plants owned by PLN.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the existence of MV Latifah Baruna would further strengthen transportation and maintain the supply chain of primary energy.

"With the addition of ships, it is hoped that it will further strengthen the capacity of PT Pelayaran Bahterat Adhiguna (BAG) in securing reliable and sustainable primary energy transportation. Even though BAg continues to increase its ship, BAg must continue to collaborate with its partners and stakeholders to maintain supply," said Darmawan, Wednesday 9 August.

President Director of PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia Iwan Agung Firstantara conveyed PLN EPI's commitment to maintain the safety of primary energy supply, one of which is through the addition of a fleet of ships.

This is due to the increasing need for primary energy transportation every year.

With the addition of this ship, MV Latifah Baruna is the 14th fleet owned by PT BAG.

" Bag's work is to show support for PLN EPI in providing and meeting customer expectations, maintaining safe and maintained transportation quality, especially with the addition of this ship's fleet. The bigger the BAG will further enlarge the group's EPI PLN," said Iwan.

President Director of PT BAg Tri Susanto said that the addition of MV Latifah Baruna was a tangible form of BAg's commitment to continue to improve the security of primary energy supply.

The ship, which was inaugurated for 12 years, PT BAg with the PLN Group, was able to transport up to 55 thousand Metric Tons (MT) to meet the needs of PLTU Suralaya, PLTU Lontar, and PLTU Pangkalan Susu.

"The achievement of primary energy transportation, which continues to rise every year, especially coal, shows that the company's role is very much needed in supporting security of supply from the electricity supply chain in Indonesia and increasing customer confidence in services provided by the company," said Tri.

Chairman of the Indonesian National Shipowners' Association (INSA) Carmelita Hartoto also appreciated the collaboration between BAg and ISA in improving the quality of primary energy transportation so far.

He hopes that this collaboration will continue to be maintained in order to meet the increasing energy needs.

"BAG has done a good collaboration with INSA, and this collaboration is expected to continue in the future," concluded Carmelita.
