Hutama Karya Records 3,034,677 Vehicles Passing At JTTS During The 2023 Eid Homecoming And Return Period

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) noted, during 16 days of homecoming and Lebaran 2023 backflow on April 15-30, 2023, 3,034,677 vehicles had crossed the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS).

This figure is an accumulation of nine JTTS sections that have been operated, including Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar (Bakter), Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung (Terpeka), Palembang-Indralaya (Palindra), Bengkulu-Taba-Penjung (Bengtaba), Pekanbaru-Dumai (Permai), Pekanbaru-Bangkinang (Pekbang), Medan-Binjai (Mebi), Binjai-Langsa Section 1 (Binjai-Stabat), Sigli-Banda Aceh (Seksi 2, 3 & 4).

Director of Operations III Hutama Karya Koentjoro said a significant increase occurred up to 44 percent from the original prediction of Hutama Karya, which was 35 percent from normal traffic or an increase of six percent compared to traffic traffic during the Lebaran 2022 homecoming period.

Specifically, the highest traffic occurred on April 19 or D-3 Lebaran 2023, where as many as 19,229 vehicles entered via the South Bakauheni Toll Gate (GT) on the Bakter Toll Road, while at the same GT, the peak of backflow occurred on Sunday, April 30, with a total of 16,529 vehicles leaving Sumatra Island.

Koentjoro said that the supporting factor for increasing traffic traffic this year was due to an increase in toll operations services, so that congestion and homecoming did not occur to be safe and comfortable.

"Stukung momen mudik Lebaran kali ini, Hutama Karya memberikan diskon tariff sebesar 20 persen di ruas Bakter dan Terpekap selama total enam hari sejak masa arus mudik Lebaran pada 16-18 April dan baliknya selama arus balik Lebaran pada 27-29 April," ujar Koentjoro lewat keterangan tertulisnya, dikutip Kamis, 4 Mei.

He said, Hutama Karya had added four new functional sections specifically used during the 2023 Eid Homecoming, such as the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road (Seksi 5&6) with a total of 10,879 vehicles passing during the April 15-30 period, then the Binjai-Langsa Section 2 Toll Road (Stabat-Kula Bingai/Proclamation Road) was recorded as many as 24,052 vehicles passing during the period 16 April-1 May.

Then, the Indralaya-Prabumulih (Indraprabu) toll road with a total of 83,102 vehicles passing during the April 15-30 period, and finally the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road were recorded as 176,685 vehicles passing during the April 15-2 May period.

"With a total of 294,718 vehicles passing through the functional segment, the highest traffic comes from the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat section because they are fully operated for 24 hours, while the other three functional sections operate limitedly," said Koentjoro.

"The public is enthusiastic about the presence of the new JTTS section for ease of mobility and community connectivity on the island of Sumatra," he added.

From the results of the evaluation, said Koentjoro, the flow of traffic during the 2023 Eid Homecoming at JTTS is known to be busy and smooth.

This is supported by various preparations made by Hutama Karya to anticipate increased traffic, such as activating mobile reader to accelerate transactions at toll gates, adding tapping personnel by officers, to setting parking areas in the Rest Area so that queues do not occur in the entrance which can cause traffic jams.

"Meanwhile, related to security for toll road users, a pothole team is alerted, checking the completeness of SPM vehicles, and ensuring safety facilities are functioning properly," he said.

In addition, Hutama Karya also continues to improve the quality of toll roads by carrying out maintenance that is managed faster than the target, especially on the Bakter and Terpeka Sections, by carrying out routine maintenance such as screening, filling and overlay (SFO) or removing and coating, as well as improving the quality of long-term sustainability toll roads, such as reconstruction so that the impact of maintenance is not only temporary, but more permanent so that the quality of toll roads will improve even better.

Koentjoro added, Hutama Karya also provides digital guidebooks for going home through a number of digital platforms, such as Hutama Karya's web page, HK Toll Apps application, as well as the official Instagram social media account @hkttolindonesia which can be easily accessed by toll road users in preparing for their trip when via JTTS.

"Thank you for the cooperation and support from all parties, as well as the strategy implemented by the Hutama Karya Homecoming Task Force Team to make the Lebaran Homecoming at JTTS in 2023 safe and smooth," he concluded.
