Ciwandan Port Is Assessed To Be Able To Unravel The Density Of The 2023 Eid Homecoming Flow

JAKARTA - Adding the crossing capacity for travelers during the Eid 2023 season by operating the Ciwan Port and can break down long queues of vehicles to Merak Port.

Academics of the Unika Soegijapranata Civil Engineering Study Program as well as Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Transportation Community Region Empowerment and Strengthening Division (MTI) Djoko Setijowarno said that long queues of vehicles to toll roads and long waiting to enter the ship were not found.

"In general, the choice of managing the transportation demand management for travelers who will cross to Sumatra Island can be said to be successful," said Djoko in a written statement received by VOI, Tuesday, April 25.

Djoko said that separating motorcyclists and goods cars from passenger cars and buses was the right choice.

"The travelers on motorbikes and goods cars were dispatched by ship to Sumatra Island via Ciwandan Port. Meanwhile, cars and buses still use Merak Port," he said.

Ciwandan Port itself has provided five piers prepared by PT Pelindo to serve two routes, namely Ciwandan Port- Bakauheni Port and Ciwandan Port-Pelabuhan Panjang.

A total of 12 ships have been operated to pass at Ciwandan Port-Bakauheni Port. Meanwhile, there are three units of ships belonging to PT Pelni, one ship (KM Dobonsolo), and two units of PT ALP 2 ships.

Not only that, Djoko assessed that the success of Ciwandan Port to unravel travelers during the 2023 Eid homecoming flow was also driven by the ODOL Zero Truck Program.

"The ODOL Truck Zero Program has begun to gradually be implemented to crossings and other ports," he concluded.
