JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati asked people living around the Maupn terminal depot at the Pertamina refinery not to light fireworks or firecrackers during Eid al-Fitr.
Nicke said this could cause unwanted losses such as explosions and fires like what happened at TBBM Plumpang.
"We hope that we urge people who live near this terminal refinery not to do that because the impact can be fatal to the surrounding environment," said Nicke, quoted on Friday, April 14.
Nicke added, to prevent unwanted losses, her party has installed safety nets around Pertamina's facilities. This has been done by Pertamina during the Christmas and New Year and Eid al-Fitr periods.
"For example, like in Plumpang, if you look at it, we put up nets. Mercon can be far away, so we put the net above the fuel terminal so prepare fire fighting," continued Nicke.
Not only that, continued Nicke, Pertamina also alerted law enforcement officers such as the police to guard around Pertamina-owned facilities such as TBBM and Pertamina refineries.
"We also alert the authorities from afternoon to morning. We also do it in Nataru when people party fireworks," concluded Nicke.
Previously, the issue related to fireworks and fireworks was raised by a member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP faction, Harris Turino.
According to him, Pertamina needs to coordinate with the authorities to prevent sparks that can cause fires from people who light fireworks.
"This will be a big issue if there are sparks that become a fire. It's not Pertamina's fault but someone is playing fireworks, Nyamber is both oil and gas and almost all Pertamina buffer zone depots have not been created. Please don't let this happen," said Harris.
