Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno appreciated the success of Lubuk Sukon Tourism Village in Aceh which was able to penetrate the top 75 of the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) by prioritizing traditional and cultural-based tourism.

"This village has beauty in terms of the natural order of Aceh's culture and homes which are very original and unique," Sandiaga said in a written statement, quoted Friday, April 14.

Lubuk Sukon Tourism Village is one of the top 75 selected tourist villages in the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) event in Wantan Jaya District, Aceh Besar District. This village is known as one of the villages in Aceh whose local wisdom is still maintained.

In terms of accessibility, this tourist village is quite easy to achieve. Tourists who come from outside Aceh can use airplanes and land at Sultan Iskandar International Airport, Banda Aceh.

Then, from the airport using public transportation, such as a taxi with a travel time to the tourist village, Lubuk Sukon, only about 16 minutes.

Most of the houses in this village are traditional Acehnese stilt houses made of wood and designed with earthquake-resistant principles. Lubuk sukon also served a shady village atmosphere and was overgrown with shady trees.

Menparekraf Sandiaga advised the people of Lubuk Sukon to always maintain and preserve the cultural traditions of Aceh and the natural characteristics in it.

"Please preserve the culture, because this is the attraction and hopefully this can also create more jobs, so that (tourists) who come to Aceh can stop by Lubuk Sukon Tourism Village and their village communities can create so many attractions so that business opportunities and employment opportunities are open," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Aceh Besar Regency, Sulaimi, appreciated the visit of Menparekraf Sandiaga to Lubuk Sukon Village.
