Menparekraf Sandiaga Encourages Labuan Bajo To Focus On Implementing The Concept Of Sustainability Resilience In The Tourism Sector

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) encourages all stakeholders in Labuan Bajo to focus on implementing the concept of tourism sector sustainability resilience for the future in dealing with disaster risks.

Menparekraf Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said Labuan Bajo was the government's focus and was included in the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP). Therefore, in the midst of the current dynamics, it is very relevant to strengthen innovation, adaptation, and collaboration.

"I hope that through this activity, quality and sustainable destination management will be created in Labuan Bajo and NTT in general, so that it can be used as a concrete example to increase domestic and foreign market confidence," Sandiaga said in his official statement, Friday, April 14.

Sandiaga explained, as stated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the Indonesian government offers the world the concept of sustainable resilience as a solution to answer the challenges of systemic risk in facing all forms of disaster, including facing a pandemic as well as supporting the implementation of sustainable development.

"The concept of sustainability resilience in the tourism sector is the focus of the Indonesian government for the future in dealing with future disaster risks," he said.

In addition, continued Sandiaga, tourism stakeholders and the creative economy must also need to innovate in these various creative economy products. For example, Indonesia's readiness in welcoming the new economic order.

"Innovation of creative products seems to be clear evidence that Indonesia is able to play an important role in global economic recovery that puts forward the concept of sustainability to encourage economic revival, create jobs, and open up business opportunities," he said.

Meanwhile, Plt. Deputy for Destination Development and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Frans Teguh, explained that one of the focal points of tourism development is efforts to mobilize stakeholders to accelerate the development of priority tourism destinations.

The development of the destination in question is carried out without fixation on the boundaries of interest, which are summarized in a framework that becomes a tool in destination management, such as Destination Management, Destination Governance, and Leadership to improve the reputation of destinations.

Frans assessed that the importance of tourism development management must be arranged from the start, so that the environment around tourist destinations is not damaged, including the social impacts caused. On the other hand, it is necessary to regulate tourists to understand the concept of sustainable tourism, so that they can take care of each other.

"Tourism is everyone's business, we can no longer be alone, we must synergize together with various parties," he said.
