Indian Imported Buffalo Meat Enters, Bulog Boss Guarantees PMK And Halal Free

JAKARTA - President Director of Perum Bulog Budi Waseso guarantees that imported frozen buffalo meat from India that has entered Indonesia has undergone an examination process. So that it is confirmed that it is free from mouth and nail disease (PMK).

Not only free from disease, Buwas, Budi Waseso's nickname, said that this imported buffalo meat also guaranteed halalness. Therefore, he said, people do not need to worry.

"Everything has been checked, if from quarantine everyone must be free, so sure that the production there has been monitored, we sent a team there to supervise. So even from there there there is a halal certificate, until here there is also a halal certificate. So don't worry, it's safe, there's no PMK," he said at the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT 1), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Wednesday, April 12.

Buwas said this imported frozen buffalo meat is to meet national meat stock spare parts to meet domestic needs, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr or Eid Al-Fitr 2023.

Furthermore, Buwas said the arrival of imported frozen buffalo meat is also an alternative choice for consumers in fulfilling the availability of meat and maintaining the stabilization of meat prices at the consumer level.

As is known, 18,000 tons of imported frozen buffalo from India with the brand ALM arrived at the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT 1), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, today.

The arrival of 18,000 tons of meat is part of the government's assignment to Bulog to import 100,000 tons of frozen buffalo by December 2023.

Buwas said the imported frozen buffalo is priced at IDR 85,000 to IDR 90,000 per kilogram (KG) at the consumer level. This imported meat is packaged in 1 KG packaging.

Buwas said, this imported buffalo will also be limited in sales. Where people can buy a maximum of 2 kg of meat. Meanwhile, for the home industry, it can be more than 2 KG.

"It's limited, one person is a maximum of 2 KG. The expenditure is only 2 KG. For example, if it's (more) than 2 KG from the warteg business owner or what, that's okay. For example, there is a home industry with basically meat, that's okay, that's an exception," he explained.
