59.91 Percent Of Pelni Ship Tickets Sold At The Beginning Of The 2023 Eid Homecoming Flow

SURABAYA - PT Pelni (Persero) has sold 134,216 or 59.91 percent of the projected 224,043 passengers in the period 7 to 21 April 2023.

PT Pelni Yahya Kuncoro, Director of Passenger Transport Business, said that his party is ready to serve the community regarding the flow of Eid homecoming this year.

"We have 26 passenger ships and 22 pioneer ships ready to serve the community with all good facilities such as beds, three meals for those who do not fast, for those who fast we provide sahur and break the fast as well," Yahya said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 11.

During a visit to Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya on Monday, April 10, Kuncoro also ensured that the health of the passengers was guaranteed while on board the ship because there was a clinic for those who felt sick.

"We hope to serve passengers optimally so that passengers feel comfortable on board when going home," he said.

This year, he said, Pelni passengers at the beginning of the Eid homecoming flow rose 25 percent from the previous year which only got around 400 thousand passengers.

"About 600,000 at this time, up 25 percent from last year in the same period," he said.

Ten of the most populous destinations, he continued, were the first in Makassar with 17,139 passengers then 14,862 passengers in Balikpapan and 12,566 passengers on Batam Island.

"In addition, there are 8,742 passengers in Kumai, 8,387 passengers in Tanjung Priok, 7,753 passengers in Ambon and 6,809 passengers in Belawan," he said.

The goal of Surabaya, according to records, is to be in eighth place with a total of 6,176 passengers, followed by Bau-Bau 4,762 passengers, and finally Tarakan 4,720 passengers.

"The distribution of passengers, for the western region reached 56,834 passengers or 36.5 percent, the central area was 65,899 or reached 42.2 percent and finally the eastern region was 33,285 or 21.3 percent," said Yahya.

For this reason, he continued, his party also appealed to the public to immediately order homecoming tickets through official channels such as the Pelni Mobile Application, the official PT Pelni portal and counters at 44 branch offices.

"For prospective passengers, they should immediately plan to purchase ship tickets for homecoming through the official PT Pelni route," he said.
