Sandiaga Asks For An Increase In Tourism Rates Ahead Of The Eid Holidays To Be Socialized

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that the issue of increasing entry rates at tourist attractions must be socialized.

This is because this will have an impact on tourist visits ahead of the 2023 Eid holiday.

"The increase in entrance rates at tourist attractions must be socialized, it must be discussed with local governments and local tourism associations to determine the right standard price," he said at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, April 10.

Sandiaga said, currently, the Indonesian economy is still in a situation that has not fully recovered, so the tariff for tourist destinations must be adjusted to the existing situation and conditions. "Let us not increase the tariff that burdens the community," he said.

According to him, local associations and local governments (Pemda) must be able to focus on improving aspects of better quality and service first, before deciding to increase the tariff for tourist destinations.

"Also pay close attention to the ability of the people who have saved wants to return to their hometowns and travel with their families, and they want to travel at an affordable price," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that the community movement reached 123.8 million people during the Eid al-Fitr 2023 period (Idulfitri 1444 H).

The prediction of the movement of the community is the result of a potential survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT).

"This number increased by 14.2 percent when compared to the prediction of people's movement during the Eid al-Fitr period in 2022 which reached 85.5 million people," Budi told reporters, Tuesday, March 7.
