The Government Restricts Traffic On Goods Vehicles During The Eid Homecoming Period, Here Are 5 Categories

JAKARTA - The government will limit the traffic of goods vehicles during the Lebaran 2023 homecoming period.

There are five categories of vehicles that are prohibited from crossing, one of which is a three-axis cargo truck.

This rule is stipulated by the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation together with the Korlantas Polri and the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing through Joint Decree Number: KP-DRJD 2616 of 2023, SKB/48/IV/2023, 05/PKS/Db/2023 concerning Road Traffic Regulation and Crossing During the Homecoming Flow and Backflow of Eid Transportation in 2023/1444 Hijri.

The Joint Decree was signed on Wednesday, April 5 at Korlantas Polri as well as a Tactical Floor Game (TFG) activity.

Director General Hendro said that the operational restrictions on goods vehicles were imposed on five categories of vehicles.

First, goodscars with the Number of Weights Allowed (JBI) are more than 14,000 kilograms (kg). Then, a freight car with a three-axis or more.

Then, a freight car with an attached train; a freight car with a trailer; and a freight car used for the transportation of excavated products (land, sand, stone), mining products, and building materials.

Hendro said that the operational restrictions on goods vehicles are to ensure safety, security, order, smooth traffic and road transportation, as well as optimize the use and movement of traffic on national roads.

"As well as smoothing traffic on crossings during homecoming and backflow," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, April 5.

Hendro said that the regulation of operational restrictions on the transportation of goods was applied to toll roads and non-toll roads with the provision of traffic control time for the homecoming period starting Monday, April 17, 2023, from 16.00 to Friday, April 21, 2023 at 24.00 local time.

"Meanwhile, the return flow for period 1 is valid from Monday, April 24, 2023 at 00.00 to Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 08.00 local time. The return flow for period 2 is valid from Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 00.00 to May 2, 2023 at 08.00 local time," he said.

Hendro said this restriction does not apply to the transportation of goods transporting fuel oil or gas fuel, sending money, livestock, fertilizer, motorbikes for free.

"Strengthening basic goods (rices, wheat flour or wheat flour or tapioca flour, corn, sugar, vegetables and fruit) fruits, meat, fish, poultry meat, cooking oil and butter, milk, eggs, salt, soybeans, onions, and chilies," he said.

However, said Hendro, the excluded goods transportation must be equipped with a cargo letter with the provisions issued by the owner of the transported goods, a cargo letter with information on the type of goods transported.
