JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission V DPR Lasarus responded to the complaint of the Governor of Jambi, Al Haris, who claimed to have limited authority in taking action against the owner of a Mining Business License (IUP) who did not comply with the rules when transporting coal and crossing national roads.

According to him, the Jambi Governor has a secret weapon, namely stopping all coal transportation activities by IUP holders.

"Mr. regional authorities. If the presence of the company creates an order, in my opinion, you have a weapon, do you want to use it or not?," he said at the Dnegar Opinion Meeting with the Governor of Jambi, Wednesday, March 29.

According to Lasarus, this was done by the Governor of Central Kalimantan who stopped coal transportation activities in his area because it caused a commotion.

However, he submitted the decision to the Jambi Governor because this concerns investment in Jambi and many workers will become victims.

He also continues to ask the Jambi Provincial Government to be firm in taking steps to resolve the cause of this traffic jam considering that the construction of special roads for coal-carrying trucks will only be completed in 2024.

"If you wait for 2024, what month is it now? How long do you have trouble? If I think there should be a way out with coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," he added.

For this reason, he said, in the near future there will be an inter-commission meeting with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Transportation and Korlantas to overcome severe congestion in Jambi.

"If possible, the quota is reduced, there are rules that mining entrepreneurs violate using roads that are not in their place by causing people to be disturbed," explained Lasarus.

He also revealed that Commission V received many complaints from the Jambi community regarding coal transportation activities that caused traffic jams.

"There are many complaints from the public, especially if someone is fit and in an emergency, then the road is stuck in traffic jams. This is a complaint that arrived at us," concluded Lasarus.
