Ahead Of Eid 2023, 4 Million Residents Are Predicted To Leave Jabodetabek

JAKARTA - Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PUPR, Danang Parikesit, predicts an increase in homecoming traffic on toll roads ahead of Eid 2023.

"I don't know the exact figure, but about four million to get out of Jabodetabek," Danang told reporters at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 28.

Related to this, Danang said, there will be growth in the use of toll roads of more than 10 percent during the 2023 Eid Homecoming.

"That roughly grew between 8 percent and 15 percent of the growth," he said.

Furthermore, said Danang, the growth in the number of toll road users during Lebaran will dominate more to Sumatra Island.

"The number (users of toll roads) to ( Island) Java, but if the growth (dominates) to the island of Sumatra," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that the community movement reached 123.8 million people during the Eid al-Fitr 2023 period (Idulfitri 1444 H).

The prediction of the movement of the community is the result of a potential survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT).

"This number increased by 14.2 percent when compared to the prediction of people's movement during the Eid al-Fitr period in 2022 which reached 85.5 million people," Budi told reporters, Tuesday, March 7.

Meanwhile, the Government of Indonesia has set Eid al-Fitr 1444 H to fall on April 22-23 2023.
