BI Malang Prepares IDR 4.64 Trillion Funds For Ramadan And Eid Needs 2023

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Malang Representative Office in collaboration with banks in the area prepared funds of Rp4.64 trillion for the needs of the community during Ramadan 1444 H and Lebaran 2023, both for exchanging new money and other necessities.

Head of BI Malang Representative Office, East Java, Samsun Hadi, said that the funds prepared for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr needs amounted to Rp4.64 trillion, an increase of around 10.4 percent compared to 2022 of Rp4.20 trillion.

"In detail, large denominations (UPB) amounted to Rp3.93 trillion, an increase of 8.5 percent from the realization in 2022 of Rp3.62 trillion and small denominations (UPK) of Rp0.71 trillion, an increase of 22.4 percent from the realization in 2022 of Rp0.58 trillion," said Samsun on the sidelines of the release of a mobile cash service car at the BI Malang Office, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 25.

He said the projected increase was considering the revocation of the status of easing the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), improving economic growth and increasing community mobilization.

On that occasion, Samsun also invited the public to optimize payments for non-cash transactions to support the digital economy and finance.

Samsun stated that the money exchange service plan prepared by Bank Indonesia Malang this year consists of mobile cash services, exchange services with banks and exchange services at banking outlets.

Retail and wholesale mobile cash schedules will be published through Bank Indonesia Malang social media. People who will exchange through mobile cash are advised to order through the PINTAR application.

The exchange service with banks, namely BI together with eight commercial banks will exchange money together at the Kartini Building on April 8 - 13, 2023 with a target of 1,600 exchangers every day.

The exchange will use an ID card scan, where during the one ID card exchange period it is only allowed to exchange once with a maximum nominal value of IDR 3.7 million.

Meanwhile, exchange services at banking outlets are served by 31 banks with 109 service points or an increase of 9 outlets from last year) spread throughout the work area of KPw BI Malang.

The exchange service at the banking outlet took place on April 10-19 2023 (work day) with the distribution of 54 outlets on April 10 - 13, 2023 and 55 outlets on April 14 - 19, 2023.

Meanwhile, in the kick off of Semarak Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idulfitri (SERAMBI) 2023, Samsun Hadi conveyed that BI's three frameworks in managing rupiah money were optimized ahead of the holiday, namely the first availability of quality and reliable rupiah.

Second, an efficient money distribution system with prime and third cash services is the preparation of reliable infrastructure.

Samsun also invites the public to always 'Love, Proud, Understand Rupiah' which is shown by taking care of Rupiah Money, proud to use Rupiah Money, and understanding Rupiah by shopping wisely in line with the theme SERAMBI on Ramadan/Idulfitri, namely "Rupiah Ramadan: Wise Expenditure".

In order to encourage the smoothness of the payment system, BI also encourages the public to optimize payment transactions in a non-cash manner, including the use of QRIS, expand BI-FAST participation, and encourage Payment Services Providers (PJP) to prepare infrastructure to deal with increased transactions during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1444 H.
