Honda Prelude Officially Launched in Indonesia, Offered Limited to Under IDR 1 Billion

JAKARTA - The Indonesian automotive market is getting more interesting thanks to various manufacturers continuing to present various latest car models, including PT Honda Prospect Motor officially presenting the Honda Prelude.

The presence of the Honda Prelude is an important step for Honda in bringing a hybrid sports car to the national automotive market, as well as making Indonesia the first country in Southeast Asia to launch the Honda Prelude after being introduced globally.

More than just introducing a new model, the Prelude is positioned as an important part of Honda's development direction in the era of electrification. This model represents Honda's approach to presenting hybrid technology that still maintains Honda's typical fun to drive, while being relevant for everyday use.

Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor, Yusak Billy, revealed that this model has strategic significance for Honda in Indonesia.

"Prelude is the initial face of Honda's electric car in Indonesia. Through this model, we want to present a hybrid sports car that still maintains Honda's fun driving character. Starting today, Indonesian consumers have the privilege to be able to order the Honda Prelude officially through Honda dealers," he said, in an official statement received, Sunday, January 25.

In Honda's history, the Prelude has always occupied a unique position. Not as an extreme performance car, but as a personal technology-based coupe that is often a pioneer of innovation and a driver-oriented approach to control.

Since it was first introduced in 1979, the Prelude has gone through five generations and has been marketed in various major markets around the world, before its production was discontinued in the early 2000s. Now, the Prelude is back as the sixth generation with a sporty hybrid approach that is relevant in the era of electrification.

This car was developed with the philosophy of "+1°C", which describes a slight increase in human body temperature when a person really feels pleasure. This philosophy is used by Honda to translate the pleasure of driving that can be felt in its entirety, through a balance between response, stability, and comfort.

This approach is strengthened through the presence of Honda S+ Shift, which is designed to keep the driving feel alive and fully engage the driver. This involvement is presented through the sensation of gear shifting, a character that adjusts the driving mode, the visual display of the tachometer, and the engine sound response during acceleration and deceleration, even though it uses a hybrid system. In terms of control, Prelude is built on the Civic Type R derived platform, providing a solid and reassuring driving feel foundation.

The character was then adjusted to remain light, stable, and easy to control, confirming Prelude's position as a sports car that is relevant for various driving conditions, not just certain situations.

As part of its official launch in Indonesia, PT Honda Prospect Motor opened the pre-booking period for the Honda Prelude starting on January 23, 2026 through certain Honda dealers.

Prelude is offered in limited quantities, available in one variant with four color options, Moonlit White Pearl, Rallye Red, Crystal Black Pearl, and Racing Blue Pearl. For current orders, the Honda Prelude is offered at a price range below IDR 1 billion. Unit delivery for consumers is scheduled to begin in May 2026 and will be carried out gradually.
